Shevchenko Woes

Andriy Shevchenko, the striker for Chelsea has had some difficulty performing in the English FA this year and is now saying he has become “…Chelsea’s scapegoat”.

Andriy Shevchenko

The Ukranian has struggled this season and has not performed as well as he has in previous years. With only 3 goals and 3 assists, his performance is not worth the 30 million pounds that Stamford Bridge dumped on him to bring him to England from AC Milan.

Shevchenko is a great player and I think all he needs is time adjusting to the English FA. Many players who move from another league to England whole-heartedly agree that it is a different style of play and teamwork over in the English leagues. Shevchenko’s performance with AC Milan was stellar and if Chelsea doesn’t get impatient with him, I’m confident he and Drogba up front will prove to be the most lethal combination of strikers in the Premiership.

Right now Chelsea trails Manchester United in the tables and I think it will stay that way for the remainder of the season until Manchester comes out on top. But, the next few years should be interesting for Chelsea, I just hope the management doesn’t get too fed up with Shevchenko’s slow start.
